Windows 10: "The previous system shutdown was unexpected". Computer turning off seemingly at random...

It can happen at any time, under any circumstances as far as I can tell. There's no BSOD displayed, the screen just freezes and turns off a few seconds later. I've completely reinstalled Windows 11 on this device Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54. Using HBCD PE as a diagnostics tool and MemTest85 I ran some tests and concluded that both the memory and disk drives *should* be fine. Hi, suggest you start by checking your disk e.g.

Health and Error scan tabs

- but many things can cause erratic failure.

A search might suggest more, but no guarantees as to the quality of the results..

 

The previous system shutdown was unexpected.

Seems to happen whenever I'm watching videos, but it's not reproduceable so it might not have anything to do with it. It may happen once or twice a week at random.

Machine is alredy old (from 2014, daily work and gaming use), and originally I tought it was the graphics card, as my old GTX740 eventually died, but even having replaced it for a newer 3060 it still gives me random crashes. It doesn't blue screen, it just goes black and the computer restarts instantly, as if I had pressed the reset button on the tower. Log only shows "The previous system shutdown was unexpected". Temperature logs doesn't show anything abnormal/rarely above 60C. I have no idea where to even find more information
