Windows 10: The primary hard disk becomes unrecognized

I was having problem connecting to Wi-Fi (it said "Can't connect to this network") so I restarted my laptop. It shut down without any problems, then after the BIOS screen wasn't Windows but the screen in text mode with "Reboot and select proper boot device...". After resetting the laptop and entering the BIOS settings, I could see the primary hard disk just wasn't there.


Is there anything to do with Windows?

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

 

2nd hard disk

Press Windows key + X

Click Command Prompt (Admin)

At the Command Prompt, type: diskpart

Hit Enter

Type: list volume

Hit Enter

This will list all hard disks including your new drive.

Type: select disk #

# represents the number the volume new hard disk

Type: clean

convert mbr

create partition primary

active

format quick fs=ntfs

exit

exit

 

External Hard disk contents are not visible.

• To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
• Do you hear any clicking sound when connecting your hard disk?
