DOWNLOADING PHOTOS FROM THE SD CARD FROM MY DIGITAL CAMERA

The facts that you can't read the card in another computer and that computer doesn't recognize your camera when the camera is connected to the computer via USB may mean that the card has become corrupted. It's particularly troubling that you can't read
the card on a second computer. On the other hand, Canon cameras will not transfer images directly from the camera to the computer if there are more than 1000 images on the SD card.

Can you view the photos using your camera (that is, with the SD card in the camera and the camera not connected to the computer)? If so, that suggests that the SD card itself is not corrupted (a good thing!).

If the card is OK (and, as Canadian Tech suggests, these cards do die after a while), the card reader in your computer may have failed (just like the cards, these readers fail too). Either take the SD card to some place like Staples or Office Max and ask
them to transfer the contents of the SD card to a USB flash drive, or buy an inexpensive USB-connected SD card reader. Just make sure to get one that's compatible with the type of card you use in your camera.

    For example:

    Hi

You shouldn't need to do any cutting and pasting.

Plug in your Camera or Card Reader Via USB

Then: Windows System>Scroll Down to>This PC>Where you should find your Camera Card listed as Removable Drive 'G'

Click: on this Hard Drive Symbol and DCIM comes up, then Click: on DCIM and 100SSCAM comes up Click: on 100SSCAM and all your Photos should appear (Maybe as Listed View) but if you Click: on the Tiny Thumbnail, at the Bottom Right, the Listed View them Changes into 'Thumbnails' or you can go back to listed view by Clicking: the Tiny Symbol next to the Thumbnail one.

So the First thing to do, is to Change the Listed View into 'Thumbnails' and if you want 'Bigger' or 'Smaller' 'Thumbnails' Click: View at the Top Of the Screen, where you can then Select the Sizes Available.

So having Changed the Listed View into 'Thumbnails' You can 'Drag and Drop' them into either Pictures, or another Folder or Sub-Folder of your Choice.

That way you also get to Choose the Photos that go in What Folder and as such you can also leave out the ones that you don't want.

    Adding photos from camera

    Hi Dolly,

Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

    • Have you tried importing photos with other camera?
    • How is the camera connected to the computer?
    • Are the photos saved on the internal memory of the camera or the SD

      card?

If the photos are on the SD card then you can either plug in the SD card

directly to the pc and check if you can transfer the photos. you can also use

the card reader and check if that helps.

    Thanks.
