Windows 10: There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. : 0x80080005

Hello,


The last checked update on my PC was 5/12/2020 11:56PM. It's 5/20/20 and I proceed to update the PC and got the following message.

"There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: 0x80080005"

I ran the "Windows Update Troubleshooter" and everything came back fine. I started researching on the issue and came here and was attempting to follow Andre Da Costa MVP Volunteer Moderator answer on the thread here - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update/windows-update-error-0x80080005/07b6e544-a501-4492-851d-83fcb80e8f2f

When I got to the command "net start wuauserv" I got this back this back.

The "wuauserv" service could not be started".

A System error has occurred.

System error 2 has occurred.

The system cannot find the file specified.

That's where I'm at currently. I just decided to post this to maybe see if I can find some help to solve this problem.

Windows 10 update error 0x80080005

I have upgraded to Windows 10 on my desktop, and haven't been able to install any updates since then. I get the following message:

"There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80080005)"

I don't have this problem on my laptop. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Sorry? Have you got the correct Tweaking .com's repair tool? Or followed the steps to the end where you actually do the numbered repairs?




- If you had followed all the steps I'd have expected it to take a bit longer.

It guides you through stages of preparation, then you perform the repairs in Safe Mode.

Of course, you can just go to Safe Mode, launch the program, and directly run the repairs, missing the preparation... not the best of ideas. It's designed to give you ways of going back if something goes wrong by creating a restore point, registry backup... then doing the repairs.
