    Not sure on 7, but in 8 and now 10 it just runs on its own when I am not using the machine, as you mention
    I have occasionally gone to run a defrag but it just gives me a message saying it doesn't need one

    for me I just like to let the OS manage itself, if I have issues then I will look into doing things that might fix the issue

  2. Then you aren't understanding how the Internet works and how their problems can be your problems quickly. My suggestion would be to find a friend who works in IT and discuss your opinions with them, since you don't seem to want to take our work for it, or the 17+ years experience in IT that I have. I'm just a guy on a forum board, so I would suggest getting the answers from someone you trust.
