    This application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect.


    When opening a file, the error "This application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail" comes up.

    I tried to download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2019 Redistributable Package, and I also tried running sfc/scannow in Command Prompt

    as well as DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth and DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth though neither of those methods worked.

    The application has failed to start because the side by side configuration is incorrect Windows 10

    Avast Premier will not load and they say that the recent windows 10 update has caused the problem. Windows settings need adjustment and I am 86 years old and need assistance in resetting these. Please make it SIMPLE and step by step.
