  1. This has something to do with resetting and my msconfig

So first of all, what I did was I touched my msconfig so that I can have a more smooth gameing experience. I learned that from a youtube video. when I read the comments of that video, they said not to do the following since it may break your PC. Funny enough, it did.

Anyways, there were a lot of shit going on with my PC, like the infinite "Preparing Automatic Repair" loop that keeps happening. Having no choice, I had to reset it. It deleted all the programs but my files stayed.

My question is, when I reset my PC, did msconfig reset too. Like, back to default settings. I did the horrible mistake of not remembering what I changed and that in turn lead me to here.

    Thanks.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

How to factory reset Cisco 1700 Router

Hopefully I can help you here....its a very common thing to happen.

First, I take it you dont know the passwords for console access or telnet/ssh?

I will assume that these devices belong to you.

step 1. Plug a cisco console cable into a serial port on your pc
step 2. Plug other end into Cisco console port
step 3. Using hyperterm or putty or similar connect to the serial port
step 4. boot router, and make sure you clearly can see the output (this confirms you have good serial comms)
step 5. if this fails, adjust the comm port settings (9600, 8,1,n are the default)
step 6. now you have to do the only hard part...send the break command:

    Break command list: Break Commands

Go down the list and match your OS and SW and try the sequence suggested.

If this fails several times do what I do: Install putty (free) and then to send a break so you can get into rommom just hit "ctrl-a b".

  4. This has something to do with resetting and my msconfig

My PC has unexpected hard resets

My PC was was plugged into a power pack, also on the power pack is my Modem, monitor and printer. I now run the PC on a single outlet and the other items on a separate outlet. While it didn't unfortunately resolve my problem your notion has considerable merit, as my PSU has the theoretical capability to draw up to 1350w under load (whether it does or not I don't know) and powerpacks are are notoriously unreliable. It therefore makes considerable sense to ensure there are no problems with the power source as a first step, which incidentally I didn't do. While in this instance it didn't resolve the issue I intend to adopt your suggestion as it is both sensible and sound. Thank you.
