Windows 10: Thunderbird and MSGTAG with Windows 10

PLEASE refrain from posting on the ethics of email tracking, this is a purely technical matter.

I have used MSGTAG on my XP Outlook Express email consistently and with great success for 12 years or more.
Having recently acquired a new PC with Win 10, I have now made Thunderbird my default email.
I have kept the same email address on my Win 10 Thunderbird as on my XP OE.

Problem ?
I have read all the MSGTAG and other web information in detail and cannot really find any of it
saying specifically that MSGTAG is compatible with Win 10. I have installed MSGTAG and tried everything I know, but cannot get MSGTAG working.

Outgoing SMTP server of localhost or 127.0.0.1 with port 7632 simply do not work.
So I have kept my system server Virgin Media as my default to keep the email working perfectly, until if at all I can get MSGTAG to work.

Any clues ?

To assist you with your concern, perform the following troubleshooting steps:

• Temporary disable software that could be blocking Thunderbird's functionality. (e.g. Antivirus software)
• If the issue still persists, perform a clean boot to identify what software is hindering Thunderbird. Click on this

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
