Windows 10: Time to get a new PC. Can I take my purchases with me?

Hello friends.


I'm writing today because I'm about to exchange my PC for a newer model and I'm wondering if I have to do anything on the old one to "detach" my Microsoft account from it.


Are the apps and software I purchased from Microsoft tied to my Microsoft account or the PC itself? Because I really don't want to have to pay for them again.


In other words, will I get a "Whoa there, wise guy, you already installed Office on another computer" message when I try to reinstall on the new PC? Or, is there anything I have to do to unlink my account from the old computer first?

PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval

• Install system in case
  • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
• Turn on PC
• setup HDD
• run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
  • run realtemp at the same time

• While in Prime95 test
  • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
  • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
  • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!

What do you guys think??

To further isolate the concern, we suggest that you restore default settings and check if it helps. See steps below:

• Press the Windows key + X, and then click on Control
  Panel.
• Change the View by to large/small
  icons, and then click on Fonts.
• On the left pane, click on Font settings.
• Under Font settings, click on Restore default font settings.

If restoring the default font settings does not bring back the Times New Roman Regular font, we suggest that if you have another computer with Windows 10, you can copy the Times New Roman Regular font into your PC's Font folder.
