  1. Timed 'open' status on Word documents

    Hello all,

Often I get up from my work desk to have a coffee, or lunch etc and I forget to close the word document I'm amending or creating. This is bad, but it happens. OK, I could make the desktop hibernate after a few minutes, but that's inconvenient. All I really need to do is have the work document automatically save and close after a few minutes. That's all. Nothing else; easy peasy. If it's password protected it will need that to reopen, and that's fine.

When I return to the desk and kick myself for leaving the computer open (after being distracted by a manager telling me something important in the corridor) at least I know the document itself has closed. OK, a baddie could sit down, find it, and reopen it but at least there's some protection. So ... is there any way to make word documents themselves do this? That would be really nice. Surely it would be a really simple facility to provide anyway; a timer in the guts of that particular Word document, and even available as a global change to the Word application.

I've indicated the spots to put the facility at (see attachments).

Yes, I know I could probably do it with a macro. But I'm not that good at computer stuff and a simple box to tick would be ideal.

Thanks.Timed 'open' status on Word documents [IMG]Timed 'open' status on Word documents [IMG]

Wrong "remove from list" document on word mobile.

    Hi,

To further assist you with your concern about re-enabling files that were removed from the Recent Documents List in Word, we suggest to follow this steps:

    • Click the FILE tab in the program.
    • Click Options from the list on the left side of the screen.
    • On the Word Options dialog box, click Advanced in the list of options on the left.
    • On the Advanced screen, scroll down to the Display section. Select the value in the Show this number of Recent Documents edit box. You can choose to change the value to 0 to disable the list.
    • When you open Word, or select the Open option in the program, there are no documents in your Recent Documents list.
    • To re-enable the list, go back into the Word Options dialog box and enter the desired value (from 0 to 50, inclusive) in the Show this number of Recent Documents edit box on the Advanced screen. If any documents were previously displayed in the Recent Documents
list, they are added to the list again.

We're just here if you have further questions.

    Regards.
