Windows 10: Timezone resets to wrong location

Hi, I have an issue with multiple (5) Windows 10 PCs in an office in Australia (Newcastle) where the timezone changes to Brisbane, (1 hour different). Changing the time zone manually then reverts after reboot.


The Maps app sees the PCs being in Brisbane which is I assume why this happens. If I turn off location services and set Newcastle as the default, it still reverts to Brisbane time zone on reboot. The external IP address on https://www.whatismyip.com looks up as Newcastle, Google Maps find the correct location, Tracert shows nothing in Brisbane, the Domain controller supplying DHCP and time services is in Newcastle and time settings are correct.


I'm at a loss as to why Windows 10 thinks they are in Brisbane. Windows 7 users do not have a problem.

• Type Location privacy settings in search bar
  and click on Location privacy settings.
• Here you can enable/disable the Location.
• You may try to Enable/Disable the Maps app to use the
  location or not from the apps list.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if that helps.

Method 1

Firstly, I suggest you to check the region settings. Refer to the steps below:

• Press Windows key +W.
• Type Region & click on Region & language settings.
• Check if the region selected in correct.

Method 2

Turn off and on the Location settings. Refer to the steps below:

• Press Windows key + W.
• Type Location and click on Location settings.
• Turn Off and then turn the location On and check if issue persists.

Method 3

Ensure that Date and Time set correctly and check the issue status.

• Press Windows key + W and type Date and Time.
• Select Set Date and Time.
• Click on Change Date and Time Button to change date and time.
• Click on Change Time Zone button to change Time Zone
• Save the changes and check the issue status.

Method 4

Synchronize their system clock with Internet Time and check if it helps.

• Click the Date and Time display on the Task bar followed by Change date and time settings.
• Click on Internet time tab.
• In the Internet Time Settings window, mark the check box with label as Synchronize with an internet time server and specify the server name.
• Save the changes by clicking on Ok.

Custom Home timezone

I live in the Falkland Islands and need to set my home timezone correctly however none of the options in the standard list are correct for this location. Not having the correct home timezone set correctly screws up meeting synch etc.. it really is necessary
to have it right.

How can I add a custom timezone?

Is there a file with a table of timezone info that I can edit somewhere or is it in firmware?
