Windows 10: Tons of entries involving "edgecastcdn.net" in Event Viewer, what is it?

In my Event Viewer, there is a huge number of entries that say "Name resolution for the name x.y.edgecastcdn.net timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded." (where x is usually a cs followed by a number, and y is either "wac" or "wpc"). There is an entry about every 10 minutes. And the logs go back until April, it seems.


Googling edgecastcdn.net gives very little info about what edgecastcdn.net is other than some pages implying it's a virus/malware. Does anyone know what this is about? Is it a browser redirection malware that's not very good at choosing a URL not blocked by DNS servers?

Tons of event viewer errors, warnings and criticals!


In that case make sure that you know the exact date and time when the freezes occur. As soon as you know the exact time and date you can check the event viewer for entries that more or less match that time. Generally only errors are interesting. The event viewer comes with several possiblities to filter and or sort the entries so it is easier to read. For example you can generate a custom view which is filtered so it only shows todays events and only critical and other errors. Just play around with it a bit.

Can individual error messages on the win10 event viewer-windows logs-system?

I have over 10k entries and over 200 relate to a bad disk I was trying to add files to.

I also have a lg quantity of other warnings and critical messages with various event ID's

how do I fix whatever caused these issues.

also, all of this started when an HP tech told me I had a lot of drivers disabled which then led to my discovering all of the error messages
