I run a win7/10(32/64bit) dual boot system with all personal data and install.exe onseparate partition from OS.

About 6 months ago I bought this PC second hand. I like to have a factory reset option on my PCs, Especially if I think I might sell it at a later date. So, I went into the BIOS and set F12 to “Display” on boot. But it would not display. So I started to nose around in the disk manager. I noticed that the recovery partitions all say 100% free. Why there are 3 I have no idea…*Huh

Tried Diskpart in elevateg CMD to get rid of the un assigned recovery partitions. But when I run “Rescan” if finishes listing no drives at all.

I have one partition named” New Volume” 49.9 GB. I would like to merge it with the Win32bit parttion but dont know why I cant

Finally, I would like to learn how to make a (PressF12 on boot option)”factory reset if you will”of my own. So I at least have something to fall back on if I ever need to do a full system reset. [But this topic answer is not a priority right now].

    Can't create system image 0x807800C5 and 0x8078004F

    System Image fails with:

There was a failure in preparing one of the volumes in the backup set. (0x807800C5)

    Additional information:

The mounted backup volume is inaccessible. Please retry the operation. (0x8078004F)

System image shows 134.14 MB/500 in EFI system Partition

Multiple retries yield the same result. Tried changing backup drives, both of which are fully accessible in file manager.

I'm confused by all the partitions that are showing up as empty on my 2 internal HDD. Do I need all of these, or should I delete some and add the space to the main volumes? Here is what disk management shows:

Disk 0 Basic Simple all volumes healthy

500 MB EFI System Partition 100% Free

40 MB OEM partition 100% free

490 MB Recovery partition 100% free

OS C: 1.850 GB NTFS (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary partition) 83% free

840 MB Recovery Partition 100% free

350 MB Recovery partition 100% free

12.25 GB Recovery Partition 100% free

    Disk 1 (second internal HDD)

500 MB EFI System Partition 100% Free

40 MB OEM partition 100% free

490 MB Recovery partition 100% free350 MB Recovery partition 100% free

    H: 917 GB Primary Partition

450 MB Recovery partition 100% free

350 MB Recovery partition 100% free

12.25 GB Recovery Partition 100% free

Disk 2 USB HDD S: 931 GB NTFS Primary partition

It may not be related, but the update tool to Creator also won't work.

  3. Too many recovery partitions

    Hi Arjit,

If you are logged in as an administrator, you can repartition your hard disk by using the Shrink feature in Disk Management. You can shrink an existing partition or volume to create unallocated disk space, from which you can create a new partition or volume.

Please refer the suggestion by “TIGER120111” using the below link and check if it helps

Can you post a disk management pic so that we can see what you would like to do?
And, have you tried MiniTool Power Data Recovery/Partition Manager -- whatever it is now called? I heard some real good things about that program.

You should post the screen shot as shown below instead of uploading it:
Disk Management - How to Post a Screenshot of - Windows 10 Forums
From the screen shot. The 3 partitions are not empty but they are Recovery partitions. Disk Management has a problem dealing with them and reports incorrect info. Use diskpart to display the partitions, you'll see the correct info on those.

The 450MB partition was created when you installed Windows 10 x64 to store the Recovery Environment. The others are unknown but probably were created from HP.

In order to merge F: and E:, F: must be after E: instead of before E:

I would simply copy data from E to F, delete E partition and extend F partition.

I note the system reserved partition resides on a different drive to the windows c drive. whilst this works, it means if you removed the drive with the srp, pc would not boot. You would be better off moving it to other drive really.

You can do this by creating an image backup of the partition using Macrium Reflect Free, then restoring partition to other drive - you can make space be deleting one of the system recovery partitions - you would have to check which is the latest one.
