Thank you BugMeister! Is there a particular brand that you recommend? Does it have to be lithium or the energizer type? With that be fine?

  3. A lithium battery. Usually a CR2032 type is what is required for most motherboards.

CR2032 3v Lithium - Energizer, Duracell any reputable maker.

That's because you presumably never use older PCs.
Assuming the specs are correct for OP then it's 6 YO. Therefore makes a lot of sense to change a CMOS battery.
I keep my PCs for a long time and a CMOS battery change is always required after about 5-7 years. In the work scenario many were also changed, again on older PCs and PC Card based instruments. Typically the volts had dropped to 1.5 or less.

    Hey everybody,

Thank you very much for your responses and your contribution to this thread. That is correct Helmut I actually had the computer 6 1/2 years something like that.

I have changed the lithium battery on the motherboard and did not help with the situation. I bought the energizer one from Amazon.com.

My motherboard is showing me that there is a problem with the memory because of the LED light. So I guess my next option is buying another memory stick and seeing if that does the trick, if not, it's got to be the motherboard and I'll have to replace that.

Let me know your guys thoughts, I'll let you guys know as soon as I replace the memory on how that works unless you guys tell me otherwise.

OK thank you all for your help again and looking forward to getting this thing solved.

Also, you guys can recommend A memory brand I would appreciate it. I kind of want to try something else. Right now I'm using OCZ as it says in my specs. Thank you

Might just check you have the memory in the right slots, some motherboards can be a bit fussy especially if it isn't on the approved list or tried just one stick in each slot?
Also check that during your cleaning there were no foreign objects left in the memory slots.

Thank you very much BugMeister! I Appreciate again your time and help. Wonderful resource and I am going through them now.

Just curious what you think about this, even though my computer worked with these current OCZ triple channel DDR3 1600 for the past 6.5 years. I now realized that I might've made a mistake. My motherboard is stating that it is dual channel, but the interesting thing those memory sticks worked for that amount of time in a dual channel motherboard. I have cleaned out my computer many times over the past years and never had a problem like this. So it could be that I shocked it with the way I cleaned it. Not sure what your thoughts are about that. also triple channel versus dual channel and normally is it OK to use a triple channel on a dual channel motherboard.

My next question is, if I bought a 8 GB (2 x 4gb) one and I later bought another one of the same kind into the other two slots in the motherboard is that OK? I just don't feel like spending the extra money on a 16 GB one at this time. Also does it have to be the same brand?

Thank you very much for your help.

They were in the right slots and I didn't notice any foreign objects in there.

Let me know if you have any thoughts about anything issues I'm having. Thank you so much again.

Is this any help? From an online copy of the manual for your mother board. Asus P7P55D EVO User Manual (Page 43 of 128)

Thank you very much clam1952! I tried all combinations I could with the memory and still can't get it to boot. It looks like I'm have to buy new memory.

What do you think of these choices?

    Hello everyone,

I received my memory today and my Computer will still not boot and the memory LED is still lit. So it is my motherboard that is the problem and I am going to call Asus on Monday to see about getting a replacement.

Once I get this new motherboard I'll leave a final post. OK, I appreciate everybody's responses earlier and hope you're having a great weekend.
