Windows 10: Touchpad on Asus laptop dies

I've got an Asus ZenBook 15 which has now had the touchpad go dead just after an Office update. The proposed solutions from Microsoft don't work, and the ASUS solution is to reset the computer, which also hasn't solved the problem. Has anybody else dealt with MS or ASUS on this and gotten a solution that doesn't involve sending the machine to ASUS? I've only got six months left on the warranty, and after that, I'll be the proud owner of a $1500 paperweight if I can't find a meaningful fix. Any Ideas?

There's a possibility that you're getting this concern due to an out-dated driver. For us to better assist you, we'd like to ask a few questions:

• Were there any recent changes prior to the issue?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

In the meantime, we suggest that you check if ASUS Touchpad is enabled on your device. To do that, you may follow these steps:

• Type Settingson the search bar and press Enter.
• Select Devices.
• Click Mouse & touchpad.
• Select Additional mouse options on the right pane.
• Choose Device Settings (some called ELAN) pane, check Yes/No of Touchpad. If
  No, click Enable and select OK.

Touchpad not working and sound problem on Asus Laptop

I'f installed Windows 10 on my Asus laptop. Since then my touchpad isn't working at all and my speaker is screwed. There was an update from asus for the touchpad but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions what I can do?

Hi there,

1. Go to N501VW | ASUS Global Downloads
2. Download the latest ATK - ATKPackage driver
3. Download the latest TouchPad - ASUS Smart Gesture (Touchpad Driver)
4. Uninstall both the Touchpad driver and the Asus ATK package driver.
5. Reboot
6. First install ATKPackage driver (IMPORTANT to do this FIRST)
7. Reboot
8. Then install the TouchPad driver (may need to reboot)
9. Test if all is working as it should

I had this same issue with my Asus UX305 when I upgraded to Windows version 1803 and doing the above steps solved the issue for me.
