Windows 10: Touchpad sensitivity too high

Even after setting touchpad sensitivity to low (the minimum), the touchpad is still too sensitive and will often click while moving the cursor or just click completely by itself. Any way to fix this? I'm running Windows version 2004 and I have an HP laptop, just in case it's some predictive clicking feature or something.

When you mean Touchpad sensitivity, are you referring to the pointer speed of your touchpad? Or are you referring to the touch/pressure sensitivity of your touchpad whenever to press your fingers on your touchpad?

If you are referring to the pointer speed, you may follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + R on your keyboard.
• Type "main.cpl" and hit enter.
• Click Pointer Options.
• Under Motion, select the pointer speed you wanted for your touchpad.

Regarding the Touch/pressure sensitivity, then you will need to contact your PC manufacturer to assist you on installing the right drivers for your touchpad.

Decrease Touchpad Sensitivity

Touchpad sensitivity too high for HP Pavilion Notebook

I understand that you are facing issues with sensitivity of Touchpad on your HP laptop, I will certainly assist you with the issue.



However, please let us know:

• What is the complete model number of the HP Pavilion laptop?
  
• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? To check type:
  winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
  Enter.
  

As you have mentioned that the touchpad is too sensitive, we can try adjusting the sensitivity in Settings and see if that helps. To do this, go to
Start >> Settings >> Devices >>
Touchpad >> Taps >> Touchpad sensitivity, and select the type of sensitivity you want from the drop down list.



You can also try adjusting the pointer speed and see if that helps. To do this, refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows logo key + R, to open
   Run dialog box.
   
2. Type main.cpl and click on
   OK.
   
3. Click on Pointer Options tab.
   
4. Under Motion, adjust the slider for
   Select a pointer speed.
   
5. Click on OK.
   

You can also try updating the Touchpad drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
