Windows 10: Transfer of digital licence

I have a windows 10(home) laptop with digital licence linked to my email id. Now i want to sell the laptop to another person.

Question 1- how can he/she get the licence or in other words how can I transfer my ownership to him/her.

Question 2- will i have to buy a new license for my new p.c?

Revoking Digital Licence -- possible ????

Does the M of the MAK still work? [The multiple installs], if so then I do not see any major issue - Obviously if the VL versions of enterprise were automatically issued DL, then that would open a can of worms that could cost a lot of time, [and money]

If you consider a MAK licence as, IMHO correctly, a related set of x Retail licences, then I would expect that there would be a similar number of x Digital licences issued to the available installs under the MAK system .

Obviously if there is only one DL issued per MAK and the "set" is reduced to one then that would be unacceptable

I would expect that the original MAK would generate x number of DLs rather than the One DL being valid on x Installs, it's easier in some ways to manage but would need an intermediate technique to allocate the initial DLs

As these would be "Retail" licences the reuse situation would not be impacted as it appears that all DLs are treated as retail anyway

Digital licences are sort of half way between oem and retail. You can transfer them to a new device (regardless of original licence status) but it is not unlimited. They can only be transferred three time (At last within a short period. I have never tested doing it weeks apart). Also, digital licences cannot be transferred between virtual machines and physical machines.

Full Retail keys do not have the above restriction albeit telephone activation may be needed periodically to transfer the licence (just a security check by MS to avoid wholesale piracy).

It is alleged you cannot transfer between laptops and desktops, but I cannot verify that - I have seen conflicting evidence to suggest that is "hit or miss".

I think of digital licences as "Restricted Retail" as opposed to "Full Retail".

Successful transfer of Win10 Pro digital licence

So this worked. Signed into MS on both machines, clicked change licence. After having to verify my identity on both machines, upgrade proceeded. I used my win7 pro retail key to install. When I checked the digital licence had been activated on the new machine.

Only issue was that I thought that the upgrade process had got stuck when it displayed the 'egg timer' with message 100% completed for about 45 minutes, before proceeding to update the machine to pro.

After the upgrade on new machine (digital licence transfer) I deactivated Win10 Pro on the old machine until I wipe it completely.

Need Clarification on Windows 10 Digital Licence...

A Windows 7 Retail key will activate a new install of Windows 10 of the same version on different hardware - you will get a new digital licence.

No need for the transfer wizard, phoning MS or any of that.

This is the best way as it does not use one of your digital licence "lives" as you can only transfer a digital licence three times (by my testing).
