Windows 10: Transfer Pics from A20 Galaxy to PC

Right, I'm totally new to all this smart phone stuff. The last phone I had was just that, a mobile phone. As a result, I've only just learnt how to take pics with the thing, let alone transfer the images to my computer. I understand that the only way to do so is via the USB cable used for charging? Well, okay, I connected it to the computer and yep, the phone icon came up in "Devices and drives". All good so far. Anyway, I clicked on it and I got its folder. I clicked on that and I got all the inner folders for videos, pictures etc. But when I clicked on the pictures folder it said the folder was empty, even though I know that I took a load the other day and can see them on the phone. So what's going on and how do I get my pics to show up in the pics folder so I can transfer them to my computer?

Please tell me the simplest and quickest way to transfer pictures from the camera on my Galaxy S7 to my pc. Thank you.

I am wandering around simply trying to transfer photos from my galaxy S7 camera to my Windows 10 desktop. Is there a simple, direct, 1-2-3 step process? I seem to complicate things because I don't how to accomplish a transfer. Any suggestions, or help
would be gratefully accepted and appreciated.

 

Transfer pics

I went through all of the suggestions for transferring pictures from my Samsung Galaxy S4 to HP desktop with Windows 10. I clicked on three (3) sites to correct the problem, auto play, updated drivers, and still nothing. It seems to have been a mistake
to update to Windows 10. Nothing but problems since I updated from day 1.
