  1. Transfer Windows to a new disk

I successfully migrated Windows 10 and all my apps to a new SSD in my Dell laptop. It has one strange quirk, however. On reboot, it downs to command line notices, each saying "Checking media... fail."" Then it restarts and works beautifully.

What is that all about and how can I fix it? It just delays the reboot and the whole point of using an SSD is to speed up the process.

(I don't know if this is the right forum, but nothing else seemed to fit.)

    :)

New SSD - Moving Windows 7

Since my original post I dug around a little more. It looks like Acronis seems to be the best program to do this. They have step by step instructions in there manual on page 58 "Chapter 12. Transferring the system to a new disk".

    download.acronis.com/pdf/TrueImage9.0_ug.en.pdf

I'm going to give this a shot once I get my drive. I'll let ya know how it goes.

Transfer Windows to a new disk

Is the free upgarde transferable? I think not.

    Hi Kari,
Can you confirm that the computer at step 5 (I numbered your list *Wink ) had never had an activated Insider build (especially not 10240)?

I'm wondering if it was possible that the second machine activated because the activation servers recognised the hardware from an earlier activation, and not because of the method you used to transfer?
