Windows 10: Transferring images from Win 10 PC to external hard drive. Confused about actual file...

I'm a photographer. I want to transfer my image files and video files from my IdeaPad to a new external 1TB hard drive.

I understand, i think, how to copy the Pictures folder to the new ext drive.


But what about images that I have in folders that are not nested under Pictures folder. They might be on Desktop, or under Documents or Downloads. Does moving the Pictures Library automatically move all the image files and keep them within their original folders?

Also, will Pictures Library recognize image files with extensions of .raw, .png , ACDSee, GIMP ?

External Hard Drive

Hi John,

We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

Photo images turning sideways on external hard drives using Windows 10

I'm a sports photographer and since I've switched to Windows 10 I've had trouble with my images. On windows 7 when I transferred my images from my PC to external hard drives the images came up vertical, just like I needed them to so my customers could
view them onsight on my laptops. After switching to windows 10 the images are vertical on my PC, but after transfering them to the external hard drives they come up horizontal on my laptops and my customers have to turn their heads sideways to view the images.
Very inconvenient! I rotated the images on my PC then transferred them to the externals, thinking that would solve the problem, but they still come up laying sideways. I thought it might be a camera issue, but that didn't help either. The question is:
How can I transfer the images from my PC to the external hard drives, plug in the hard drives to my laptops and have the images show vertical? Thanks in advance for any suggestions or assistance in solving this issue!

 

Error when transferring files to external hard drive

When transferring image files from laptop to an external hard drive I continue getting an error message saying there is not enough space in the computers picture files to complete the transfer. This is not making sense to me as I am trying to transfer
the images from the laptop to the hard drive not the other way around.
