Windows 10: transferring photos from Samsung phone to Dell Laptop

I have a Samsung Galaxy A20. I have a Dell computer with windows 10. I cannot get the photos from the phone to computer by ANY method. Not USB, not email, not any way that I've read about. When I hook up the USB, I can only let the phone control the transfer But the screen pops up on the computer. It says it can't find any or after several retries it finds them, I choose and it said 'downloading but it's always 0 of xx. I can try all at once, one at a time, using the drop down box on all options. They don't download. If I email, they don't get to my emails. I've tried to send it to yahoo, gmail, hotmail, outlook, and nothing emails.

Not only does it not work. It loads computer photos to my phone! Help please. I'd just emptied all the extra photos out of my phone and now they're back plus some. Now my phone is out of memory and I'm deleting photos again.

You can import photos from your Android device to your Windows 10 laptop. To do that, the following are the steps:

• Connect your device to your laptop with a USB cable, and make sure that it is turned on and unlocked. You may need to change the USB settings to allow you to transfer media or photos and not just charge the phone.
• On your laptop, click on Start, open the Photos app, select
  Import, then follow the instructions. It will automatically select new items you haven't imported before, or you can choose what to import.
