Windows 10: Tried upgrading to Windows 10, laptop crashed at 25% has no OS.

I encountered this issue recently, and it's caused me a fair bit of frustration. I keep searching for solutions but it seems nobody has any. Does anyone know what I can do to restore Windows 7 (preferably with my files intact) or at the very least finish the upgrade to Windows 10? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Error 0xC1900101 - 0x20004 when upgrading via MediaCreationTool

Hi,

Tried upgrading to Windows 10 a couple of times through the MediaCreationTool. Every time it crashes at 85% of the file copy and 25% of the total installation.

So far I have tried the following:

- Without LAN cable plugged (it has no WIFI-card).

- After a clean start of Windows.

Any other suggestions to solve the problem?

 

Reinstall windows 10 free upgrade fall edition from windows 7

I was using windows 7 which came along with my laptop and was offered a free upgrade to windows 10, was upgraded and was using it for a year or 2. Now as my hdd has crashed and needed reinstallation of OS, I tried installing windows 10, which would not accept
the cd key of windows 7. So I had to fresh windows 7.

Kindly advise how to install my free windows 10 fall back and which edition to download and install

 

Install Macrium Reflect Free on an operating computer. Make a Macrium Reflect Free rescue USB/DVD/CD. Boot the troubled laptop from the rescue USB/DVD/CD. See if Macrium Reflect detects partitions. If you have an external drive with enough space you can save an image of the Windows partition (if Reflect finds partitions). Under the restore menu of Macrium Reflect Free you can also attempt to restore booting with the fix startup problems utility.

If you save an image of the Windows partition, you can use Macrium Reflect Free to explore the image and retrieve specific files/folders from it.

 

It's possible the Windows 10 install created a C:\Windows.old folder when the upgrade started. If so you may be able to roll back to Windows 7 from a booted installation DVD or flash drive.

How did you do the upgrade?

From Windows Update,
via Media Creation Tool - Update now
DVD or flash drive created by Meadia Creation Tool
Download ISO from Techbench

Do you currently have a Windows 10 installation DVD or flash drive?
