Windows 10: Tried window 11 upgrade - ethernet connection issues

I tried upgrading my pc from windows 10 to windows 11 in july 2022. I have a direct ethernet connection between my pc and my router. Once I upgraded, I could not get any internet access. I tried unplugging and replugging in the ethernet cable, rebooting my router - nothing worked. I ended up backing out the upgrade. My pc is 2 years old. I am concerned if I try this again and the same thing happens, I won't be able to get any support. I did run pc check tool - My pc should be able to run windows 11. Any suggestions?

Windows 10 Ethernet connection randomly disconnects

Hello,

So this issue has been annoying me since i have changed my old i5-4670 with a ryzen.

Ethernet: Realtek 8111H (MSI X370 Gaming Plus)
Modem/Router: Airties Air 5760

What i have tried so far to fix my issue:

• Re-installing Windows
• Updating Ryzen chipset drivers
• Updating Realtek LAN drivers (both from MSI & Realtek)
• Updating MSI' LAN releated drivers (MSI Gaming Lan Manager)
• Replacing ethernet cable
• Restarting router to factory settings

Still no luck, keeps happening randomly. Sometimes it is stable for days then it is not stable for 20 mins. Happening when gaming or idle, or while streaming via steam link.
Windows' own issue fixer thingy fix the issue for the moment, re-plugging the cable, disabling & enabling the ethernet adapter also fixes the issue for the moment.
Also i am the only one having this issue in the network, TV and phones are still connected to wifi.

It is started to be real annoying, so time to get help to fix the issue from TPU. Thanks in advance! *I Love TPU :lovetpu:

 

Ethernet connection issues

This issue might happen if the power saver option is set.

I suggest you to follow the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

• 
  Press Windows Key + X key and click on
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Expand Network Adapters.
  
• 
  Right-click on the Network Adapter listed and click on
  Properties.
  
• 
  Click on Power Management tab.
  
• 
  Uncheck the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power box and click on
  Ok.
  
• 
  Restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Thank you for your reply. My answers are interleaved with your questions.

• In which browser are you facing this issue e.g. Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer?

Multiple browsers: Chrome, Explorer, Firefox

• Do you get any error message?
  • In Chrome, I get "ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE" as the error message
• Have you installed all pending Windows updates?
  • Yes. It is continuously getting updated.

• Do you face connection fluctuation in Ethernet connection?
  • No. The internet connection is a solid 40Mb downlink. The same problem occurs when I'm hooked to a different internet service provider.

• Is the issue specific to any particular website?
  • No, it occurs when I'm accessing multiple web sites. It is not related to any web site.

I suggest you to try connecting to Ethernet connection and check if face same issue.

The problem occurs when I'm using wired ethernet, an internal wifi card, or an external wifi usb dongle.

Also install all pending Windows updates I.

I just checked it . It is up to date.

I'm not going to spend time on these other steps, since as I mentioned it occurs on multiple browsers, and it is not tied to Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge, unless you give me a good reason to do so.
