Windows 10: Trouble resetting Windows 10 PC - 'insert your windows installation or recovery media'

Hi,

I'm having trouble resetting my computer need to reset as selling it. I'm getting the error: 'insert your windows installation or recovery media'


So far I have:

- created a recovery medium on my external hard drive but Windows won't recognise it.

- tried the reagentc /enable in Command: It won't enable it reagentc /info still shows 'disabled'

- run sfc/scannow with the following result:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.

- run DISM with the following result:

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?

Recovery options in Windows 10

There are options in Windows 10 to perform Reset on your computer without losing the data as mentioned under the section
Reset your PC.

Note: I would like to inform that using recovery drive will remove your personal files, apps and drivers you installed, and changes you made to settings.

You can deploy scan for viruses using Windows Defender and check if it helps.
