  1. Troubleshooting network credentials

Hello, thanks in advance for your assistance.

    I'm sharing a Windows 10 PC with a Windows 7 PC.

I'm trying to map a drive to the Windows 10 PC on the Windows 7 PC.

I've configured with Windows 10 PC with file sharing enabled and given read/write access to everyone.

When prompted for the credentials I am unable to successfully login.

I've used the Name with space, the e-mail address, the AzureAD login, and even the concatenated user folder.

My first question is which name is used by file sharing? Is it the plain english name shown in "Your info", the e-mail I used to setup the account and that the password is for, the AzureAD full path shown in control panel ==> user accounts, or the concatenated name shown when browsing user folders, or something else entirely?

My second question, assuming it was one of the ones I tried is what do you recommend to troubleshoot this issue? I've worked around it by disabling passwords for file sharing, but that's an unacceptable solution in the long run.

    Have a great one!

    Ben

    :)

On this thread, one of the mentioned reasons why you encounter the networking error is due to an incorrect setup on the credentials. To determine the appropriate troubleshooting steps to resolve your concern, we'd like to ask the following:

    • How many devices are affected?
    • Are you getting any error messages when connecting to a network? If yes, send us a screenshot.

    Windows Network Credentials

    Hi Keith,

We suggest that you disable Credential Manager before mapping your Drives. Please follow these steps to disable Credential Manager:

    • In the search box type “Services
    • Right click on “Services” and select “Run as Administrator
    • In the Services Window, look for Credential Manager Service and click “Stop”.
    • Restart the computer and go back the Credential Manager Service and set it to “Automatic”.
    • Restart the computer again.

Please keep us updated if you were able to map your drives.
