Windows 10: Trying to backup Windows 10 computer files to Seagate External drive, but protocol is not...

Connected new Seagate 2TB drive and followed minimal instructions. No response. Says backup working, with 63 GB file, then stops, showing zero file. No help with no instructions. After it stops, shows last backup of 2018. No response from Microsoft, question box keeps timing out with no connection.

Windows 10 Backup does not recognize Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB External Drive

I did a test on my own computer and also a virtual machine, it turns out that the File History Service seems does no matter to the Backup feature, for my computer, this service is stopped by default and I can see my external HDD in the Windows Backup drive
list.

So I'll suggest trying to update your Seagate HDD's driver and update Windows 10 to the latest.

 

Windows 10 Backup Not recognizing Seagate Desk External Drive

I have tried your suggestions with no success or change to my problem.

Here are answers to your questions:

1. My computer is an EMachines ET1331G-034w

2. Have not changed any settings.

3. Windows Backup says that no external hard drive is detected.

I did try one additional thing. I dug out my OLD WD external hard drive just to check. Surprisingly to me, Windows Backup does recognize it, but not the much newer Seagate drive.

Surely there must be an answer, especially since the Seagate drive was working perfectly before updating to Windows 10.

Seagate Backup Plus Slim and Windows 10

I am able to backup my files using Seagate Backup Plus Slim. Windows 10 tells me my Seagate software is up to date. However I keep getting notifications to backup my files on the Windows 10 Notifications Board. Also Windows 10 does not allow me to add
my Seagate Backup as an external device and seems not to be registering that I am already backing up my files to an the external Seagate hard drive. Any suggestions?
