I know MS killed the support for the SMB 1 protocol. After trying all the so called trick to no avail and also uninstalled the SMB 1 protocol and just left the SMB installed and tried the MS trick to enable the network discovery as outlined in the article, https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/...op-using-smb1/ and still can't get any of the computers to show in the network explorer. I even went as far as trying to set up static IP's on the router, netgear R6400 and can't figure out how to get everything to see each other. I tried the Address Reservation with no joy. I'm not a novice to computers, but at my wits end trying to get this setup. 2 desktops, win10 1709 and 1 laptop win7

    :)

  2. Trying to find solution to the slow running of my windows 10 PC

Open Start > Settings > Privacy > Background apps

    Disable all Background apps.

    Disabling Windows Update:

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: services.msc

    Hit Enter

    Scroll down to Windows Update

Select it then right click it

    Click Properties

Under the General tab, choose Startup type to DIsabled

    Click Stop

    Click Apply then OK

Also, check whats starting up with Windows.

    Press Windows key + X

    Click Task Manager

    Click Startup tab

    Disable all except Windows Defender.

    Open Start, type: problem reports

    Hit Enter

Delete any failed or pending reports.

Go to Start > Settings > System > Notifications and actions > Turn off "Show me tips about Windows."

If you have Chrome installed, uninstall then reinstall it.

Ultimately, the best thing to try is perform a clean install.

  3. Trying to find solution to the slow running of my windows 10 PC

Hi Romal. I'm Greg, a volunteer installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Depending on the beefiness of the processor so that it makes sense to upgrade RAM, my suggestion would be to both Upgrade to 8gb RAM and do a Clean Install which should get you past all difficulties as it has hundreds of thousands of others who have followed
the steps in this link and never come back to report another problem:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Otherwise go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

But remember that Factory or Upgrade installs are inferior installs which most enthusiasts won't even run because they'd expect endless issues. Consider doing the Clean Install in this link which compiles the best possible install that will stay that way as
long as you stick with the tools and methods given:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

There is also an automated Refresh that reinstalls WIndows while shedding corrupting factory bloatware, saves your files, but doesn't clear the drive to get it cleanest:

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Trying to find solution to ongoing network issues.

After getting over 100 looks and no replies, I decided to do a lot of research and solved the problem. All of these so called tweaks that these so called vip's in here suggested, did not work. Here is the final resolution to the SMB1, network sharing problem. I also figured out how to set up my static IP's on the router.
    1) make sure SMB1 is installed.
    2) Go to services and make sure Function Discovery Provider Host & unction Discovery Resource Publication is set to Automatic(delayed start)
    3) Open up power shell and run in admin mode and enter these commands: sc.exe config lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb20/nsi
    sc.exe config mrxsmb10 start= disabled
You should be able to now open up the network browser and see all of your share drive and computers. This has been tested now for 4 days and works flawlessly.
