  1. Trying to fix a retail win111 upgrade from home to pro.

I have a retail key for pro of an earlier windows. Earlier, I've successfully installed it on a new machine and upgraded it to win11. However, I noticed that it installed as home instead of pro. I've since successfully installed win11 pro but I'm unable to activate it. When checking the device list, I see this device in my device list as win11 home. However, I'm unable to remove that device either from my pc or from my ms account online. I assume this win11 home device in in the list is preventing me from activating this machine to windows 11 pro and that I need to remove it somehow? I'm not e

  2. Free upgrade from Windows 11 Home to 11 Pro using 10 Pro retail license

My current computer has an activated Windows 10 Pro retail license. I'm planning to replace my current computer by buying a new computer that comes preinstalled with Windows 11 Home, and then I understand I can use my 10 Pro license to upgrade to 11 Pro for free.

What's the most straightforward way of accomplishing this? The obvious approach that comes to mind involves two steps:

    1. Reinstall Windows 10 Pro on new computer and activate with my existing retail license.
    2. Upgrade new computer to 11 Pro for free through the settings.
Is there a simpler way of doing this without having to reinstall Windows 10? For example, would it be possible to somehow "trade in" my Windows 10 Pro license for 11 Pro? I'm fairly new to Windows licensing and am just trying to understand what is possible/best practice, with minimal effort.

Trying to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro and I get "Error Code: 0x8004230f"

Upgrade from what version? What were the steps you did? Is the Win 10 pro key a retail or OEM key?

Trying to fix a retail win111 upgrade from home to pro.

Transfer Win10 HOME Key (retail) to another PC after upgrading to PRO (retail)

    As the subject line states...

I have 2 PCs. One with a HOME (retail) key and one with no key but is an older PC ... let say it currently has no OS. I want to upgrade this newer PC from HOME (retail) to PRO (retail). I have already retrieved the HOME key and saved into a text file. From
my understanding, I go into System -> Change key and can put in the new PRO (retail) key to upgrade from HOME to PRO.

Once I do that... can I now use the HOME (retail) key on the older PC? Again... I keep stressing (retail) in this email because I fully understand that OEM keys / upgrades are retained for the PC they came installed on and are not transferable. However,
both my HOME and PRO version are retail keys.

If the answer is YES ... please don't just say YES. Please provide the steps necessary to transfer the HOME key so I don't lose it accidentally.

    Thanks.
