Windows 10: trying to switch permissions to Sideload Apps and computer is STUCK on Developer Mode -...

My computer is stuck trying to find Developer Software. would Not click on Sideload Apps. Now will not click on anything inUser Developer Features.

Help! Need to download software to finish accounting year for a client today.

I recently got a new computer and put it in developer mode which worked no problem. I kept wondering why it looked like I had two different builds of windows 10 between my laptop and desktop and today I realized it was because my desktop was in sideload
mode not developer mode but when I switched it back to developer mode it hangs trying to install the developer mode package. When I restart it hangs as well but not when I shutdown. I tried uninstalling the Linux subsystem that I loaded on to it when I originally
had it in developer mode but that didn't fix the hanging.

Any ideas?

Follow these steps:

1. Press Windows Key + R then type regedit and hit Enter to open Registry Editor.

2.Navigate to below registry keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModelUnlock

3. In the right pane locate AllowAllTrustedApps entry. If entry is no available;

a. .Right-click on AppModelUnlock then select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

b. Name this newly created DWORD as AllowAllTrustedApps and hit Enter.

c. Similarly, create a new DWORD with the name AllowDevelopmentWithoutDevLicense.

4. Now depending on your choice set the value of the above registry keys as:

Windows Store apps – Set the value of AllowAllTrustedApps and AllowDevelopmentWithoutDevLicense to 0

Sideload apps – Set the value of AllowAllTrustedApps to 1 and AllowDevelopmentWithoutDevLicense to 0

Developer mode – Set the value of AllowAllTrustedApps and AllowDevelopmentWithoutDevLicense to 1

5. Once finished, close everything and restart your PC.

Works here. All you need is to
download the app to your microSD and install it via the File Explorer. If your app is not correctly signed, you have to go for the ‘Developer mode’ which is the mode ‘Sideload apps’ plus ignoring the code-signature. If that did not address your concern,
please, explain in greater detail which step fails with which app.
