Windows 10: Turn OFF windows 10 updates

Hi, I have a 14gb windows tablet and as soon as I install a fresh copy of windows, I have 6-8gb free on my install drive. Later on, as soon as I connect to the internet, it all gets filled up and my tablet starts to lag. I don't really know where the updates are saved/installed so that I could free up some space. I usually tend to install the latest build of Windows 3-4 days it gets released and I know that it is stable, so I don't need windows update to install it for me. Moreover, the lack of free space makes the email and other webpages stop working. As of now, I have made a different 5gb partition for my files and downloads and have a 9gb partition for windows, where I have not installed any programs and after installing all drivers, I have about 1.5gb free space which is fine for windows to not throttle my edge chromium based, which is realistically the only app I use except Spotify and also remember to clear disk space from c drive properties... I also delete all files from Software Distribution folder in Windows folder so as to delete all the junk updates. Also, all of my c drive is compressed except for Boot folder in windows and system32. The tablet is running off of an Intel Atom quad core and 2gb ram. Please tell me a way to keep the free space free and not let windows eat it!!!

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Windows 10 Anniversary Update Issues

Problems with W10 Anniv auto update:

Mom's: (x58 Xeon 5677) Windows Defender was not turned back on automatically (it was "on" in the 1511 edition) and she had a Trojan. Full system scan to eradicate.
Her Epson printer was knocked off, had to uninstall by Device Manager pull USB cable and reconnect cable. W10 did the rest.

Step-mom's: (HP pre built) Windows Defender not turned back on by default. Her USB Seagate Expansion Drive 2Tb was offline so all backup routines were halted. Had to rerun backup plan. Had her do a full virus scan.

Step-dad's: (Dell Optiplex tweaked upgrades) Windows Defender not turned back on by default. Full Scan.

 

Windows 10 download speed issues

Try this method:

• First of all from Start Menu, open Settings (Type settings in the search bar and it will appear).
• locate and select “Update and Security“.
• in this window, Locate “Advanced Options”. Click on it.
• In Advanced Options; Click on “Choose How Updates are Delivered“.
• Turn off Updates from more than one place.

Your system will not work as a seeder for other Windows 10 users. It will give sudden boast to your Slow internet speed.
