Turn On or Off Aero Snap in Windows 10

That's to bad it didn't help. Just to verify, but did you restart the computer afterwards to apply?

    EDIT:

I just tested on my system, and no luck either.

It seems, you'll either need to turn off Aero Snap, or speed up crossing the display. *Sad

Yes. Put it on standard settings under screen settings multitasking (which is everything on). Ran the regedit. Rebooted PC. Tried moving window, same as picture posted. This is just a long list of issues I've had since I upgraded to Windows 10, which saddens me if this is the inevitable future.

    Windows 10 in 2 weeks:
    • 3 BSOD (Kernel driver error)
    • 1 Freeze (literally 5 minutes ago, when opening a youtube link everything just froze and had to reboot.)
    • Dragging window from one monitor to the other as described in this thread.
    • Not being able to see my Task Bar when main monitor running in fullscreen no border windowed mode, and clicking on 2nd monitor. Described in this thread
    Windows 7 for 4 years:
    • Nothing.

This is why I'm a little discouraged right now. I've been so happy with Windows 7, and with my realisation that so far every 2nd OS from Microsoft has been pretty garbage, I was hoping skipping 8 would be my saving grace. So far I'm sad *Sad .

    Edit:
It's things like this that make people not want to change OS. They have their set ways and they're using your OS for a reason. It's user friendly. All these errors and things not working, for the common user is just a hassle not worth dealing with. I think they should make a more stable OS before pressuring everyone into upgrading with their "Updates" popping up 24/7, and "Only revert for 1 month" policy. It feels like gun policy.

    Thanks,

Try this out just for giggles:
Grab your window as far on the left as possible when moving it to a monitor on the right, (or vise versa), and see if that does anything to speed up the 'crossover'.

  6. Afraid not, same result regardless of how or where you grab it. For some reason it's hard-coded into Windows 10 that moving things between monitors makes things sticky.

Is there any way to actually get hold of Microsoft representatives, or is that banging your head against a wall? I tried calling the local Microsoft hotline here in Denmark, but that was like talking to a wall that knew nothing about Windows I couldn't google in 30 sec~. I wish it wasn't all down to how many upvotes a thing got on Reddit. *Sad

    Cheers,

    lindenkron,

It's the speed used when crossing over that's causing it. You should be able to stop this without having to turn off Aero Snap by speeding up dragging the window a bit more while the pointer crosses over to the next display.

Ye I know how it works, but when you play games on low sensitivity (shooters) and you're doing stuff, you don't want to change your sensitivity hundreds of times a day, because windows decides to change a simple feature to be something stupid. I had it on for a while and I'm tired of raging at my mouse not moving cus it gets stuck. So for now I turned it all off and just don't have the feature to make a window "fullscreen" without having to double click, adding a delicious amount of extra clicks a day :/ . No one has been able to fix any of the issues yet, I'm pretty sure I'm going back to 7, and when that stops getting updated then I'll take it from there. Many years from now.

This windows 10 doesn't seem to be worth the trouble *Smile

I appreciate the time of everyone though, very kind!

    Hey Brink:
    I found if you turn off many appearance and performance settings, monitor crossover seems to be less sticky;
especially 'show contents while dragging' and 'play animations in windows'

    Edwin,

I just tested, and didn't really notice any difference on my system. If I drag the windows slowly across displays, it seems to be able the same amount of stickiness caused by the delay for snap. If I move windows across at a normal or fast pace, there's no sticky lag.

Hello Soszy, and welcome to Ten Forums. *Smile

When you are dragging the window, do you see the transparent overlay appear when your pointer reaches the edge of the screen like below?

I do not see them. I have all options turned on related to snap. I have downloaded .reg files to turn it on and i still dont have it.. But the keyboard shortcuts : win + arrow work..

And I have found now another thing that annoys me. When i press left ctrl and i move mouse my active windo is moving towards edges depending when i move my mouse. How to turn that off?
