  1. Turned on computer, all files are gone

This is a Dell desktop running Windows 10, with Malwarebytes for antivirus. I turned off last night and all was fine. This morning I turned it on and everything is changed. My background photo is gone, the tiles are rearranged, and worst of all every single file I had is gone: Photos, Music, Movies, Documents, Downloads, everything. I have most of those backed up but not all. I ran a scan and nothing bad turned up. My Computer still shows a lot of data on the hard drive - not sure how much was there before. Also, all my Favorites are gone from Google Chrome. It's like the computer started over from scratch except that downloaded programs are still accessible.

    Possible explanations?

    :)

  2. Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.

Computer won't turn on after sleep Mode

    Hi,

It appears that there are corrupted system files on your computer. We suggest that you run System File Checker to repair missing or corrupted system files.

    • Press Windows key + X, click Command Prompt (Admin).
    • In the Command Prompt, type the command sfc /scannow and press ENTER.
    • Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

If the issue persists, we suggest to follow the steps on how to perform
    DISM
    to fix Windows errors here.

Turned on computer, all files are gone

    files have gone

I MOVED a directory from one W2K PC to another. However, the target PC (which has a backup unit on it and thus the point of the move) crashed halfway through the move and I had to reboot. I then decided that I needed to sort out why the PC crashed and MOVED the directory back again.

However, in the process, most of the files have disappeared! What I don't understand is why the original files were deleted if they were not copied over.

As far as I can see, the files have gone for good. Is there any hope? Friend suggest Data Recovery Wizard, can I try that?
