Windows 10: TV Monitor

I have an older 4yrs ASUS laptop which I plug into an 32" RCA TV used for my monitor. Works great!. I finally bought a 15" HP laptop and tried the same, but no display on the TV. When I shut the TV off, the laptop "beeps" so it knows it's there, just not displaying anything. When I plug in an actual computer monitor, it works displays on both the monitor and laptop, but not when I hook up the TV. Any ideas?

Issue solved

Removed DVI/HDMI cable from computer and monitor

Step 1: Check if the VGA monitor cable is defective.

1. Turn off computer
   
2. Connect the monitor VGA cable from the monitor to the VGA port on the computer
   
3. Turn on computer, VGA monitor cable is good.
   
   Step 2: Tun off computer
   

1. Connect HDMI Cable to HDMI port and TV
   
2. Turn on computer and TV, there is no monitor black screen
   
3. Click on the Windows logo, select the Settings icon , and then select
   
   System. Under Display there are two squares, labeled 1 and 2
   
   D Click on Advanced Display Settings:
   
   Display information: Display 1- Monitor Display 2 -TV
   
   E Right-click the Speakers icon in
   the taskbar, select Sound, click on Playback devices,

   AMD High Definition Audio Device ready.

TV Being used as monitor, need help.

Step 1.) Find out the NATIVE resolution of the TV. (This will also be the maximum)

step 2.) Use NATIVE resolution.



If it doesn't get any clearer at the native resolution, theres probably not much that can be done.

This is why TV's aren't used for monitors. *Wink

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

The HDMI interface in most cases is its own sound device independent of the main computer sound chip.

1) Go to Control Panel.

2) Sound and check the playback device.

3) See if there is a separate option for the HDMI interface, with the monitor connected make that the default device and it should switch to it when the screen is connected.

I also suggest you to check the plugin's connected to TV monitor.

I would suggest you to follow these steps and run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter:

• Type “Troubleshoot” without quotes in search and click on
  Troubleshooting in the results displayed on the left side of the screen.
• In the left pane, click on View all.
• Click Audio playback and follow the on-screen instructions.
