Windows 10: Two instances of OneDrive in file explorer

HelloOn Monday I opened File Explorer on this laptop and noticed straight away that there were two instances of ondrive as you can see in the screenshot. I believe the first instance to be a duplicate of the 2nd. Today it is still there.I have not done anything apart from usual use so I cannot imagine how this could happen.Any advice to rectify this is welcome.RgdsR

Thank you for the instructions on how to load a hive. I read them but, after a little research on the Internet, I discovered the reg load and reg unload commands which I have now tried and prefer. (I’m a “long in the tooth” ex-IT professional, now retired, so commands don’t worry me.)

Why choose this particular instance of the mystery CLSID in the registry? For example, if this instance of the mystery CLSID is deleted, are all the remaining instances of the mystery CLSID deleted automatically as well? Or do all remaining instances become “orphans” in some way and are therefore redundant? I was interested to find the following article concerned with removing OneDrive from the navigation pane of File Explorer (albeit for Windows 11). How to Remove OneDrive Icon from File Explorer in Windows 11 The article advocates changing the value System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree from 1 to 0 (actually, the article gets it the wrong way round!), in common with other articles on the same subject. However, quite uniquely, it goes on the state that the OneDrive CLSID should be deleted from precisely the key path that you suggested. So, it makes me wonder what is so special about this particular key path.

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

For an item to appear in the Navigation Pane, it has to be rooted in the Desktop namespace. System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree can then toggle the visibility of those items. But even invisible items can be active/functional. So my first trouble-shooting guess was that even with the item invisible, its presence in the namespace was triggering the "Set up OneDrive" dialog. Mind you, I don't have the CLSID in question on my computer and can do a useful internet search with the abbreviated values you posted.
