  1. Two monitors.

I have a gaming PC and a 144 hertz monitor. A main game I play usually runs at around 240 frames per second. I found an old monitor from 2009 in my garage. When I saw it I attempted to set it up as an extra monitor for doing stuff on the side. After I set it up, I tried playing the same game and it only ran at 25 frames maximum. I have tried unplugging the second monitor and only using the first, but the game still runs at 25 frames. I Was wondering if it affected other games, and it affects ALL of them, so it has nothing to do with the settings of steam or this one game in particular. I decided to run a test.

I tried playing one particular game on my main monitor. It usually runs at around 72 frames, but now it was running at 15 when I played it on my main monitor. I then restarted my PC and tried playing the same game on my other monitor which is very old and it also ran at 20 frames.

I think somehow my PC thinks my main monitor's specifications are the same as the second monitor's specifications, which are very low. I have tried unplugging every single cable from every single hole, plugging in only my main monitor, and it still runs at very low frames for all of my games.

I have tried talking to several people and they don't know what to do. Can anyone please help me with this issue?

    :)

    Hi Ron,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    • What changes did you make in the BIOS? As making the changes in the BIOS is only recommended by Microsoft if done by the manufacturer.
    • How are you connecting to the 2nd monitor?
