Windows 10: two monitors

I recently hooked up a second external monitor to my Dell Laptop due to the fact that I am forced to work from home now. Both monitors work, but I can't figure out how to have each monitor display something different, nor can I get an app to "slide" to the other screen, it goes just to the edge of my laptop & stops. Can you someone help me with this? In "Settings" & then in "Display" the monitors are physically sitting in the order that shows when I click on "Detect", & I have it set to "Extend these displays". What am I doing wrong? Thank you.

Trouble with 2 monitors

I suggest you to change the settings to Extended Monitor and check if it helps.

Please follow below steps:

• Right Click any ware of the Desktop, and launch Personalization.
• Go to dual monitor settings under personalization, and change it Extended Monitor.

i have a problem to connect 2 monitors.

• What changes did you make in the BIOS? As making the changes in the BIOS is only recommended by Microsoft if done by the manufacturer.
  

• How are you connecting to the 2nd monitor?
