Windows 10: Two USB Webcams

I have two USB web cameras, one I use for Skype and another for monitoring purposes. If I use Skype alone and the monitoring software alone, they both work as they should. If I use one and then try to use to other, it will not work. It looks like the programs hog both webcams even if they do not use both. I thought it might be the monitoring software but I have tried other software and got the same result. Both programs allow you to select which webcam they are supposed to use. I am starting to think it is a problem with the operating system.

microsoft (C) register server problem

Also using an older Creative Webcam with Windows 10. This problem seemed to start when I decided to log in as a non-administrative user. I unplugged the USB webcam and used Task Manager to kill the two regsvr32.exe processes. Then I plugged the webcam
back in and the processes did not restart.

 

Lifecam HD-3000 stops working

I used this webcam for two months without problems. However, some days ago the webcam suddenly stopped to work.

It doesn't show as plugged in the device manager. The camera app reports an error telling that the camera is not connected. Skype does not detected the webcam.

There are no other applications that are using the webcam and the blue led is off.

I already tried to connect the webcam to other usb ports and to install the lifecam software (both 4.25 and 3.60 versions) in compatibility mode.

 

After a bit more searching I came across a message on webcams and USB bandwidth, it seems I was using two much by having both webcam plugged into the same USB 3.0 hub. *Redface I moved one the webcams to another USB 2.0 hub and now both Skype and the monitoring software are working at the same time.
