Windows 10: "Type here to search" does not work after changing Windows 10 account name

Hi, I am using Windows 10 Pro 20H2. After changing my Windows account name, "Type here to search" does not work. Nothing appears when clicking the magnifying glass icon on the taskbar. Also, I cannot type in the Start Menu to search. I think it is because of changing the account name. I first changed the account username by using netplwiz.exe, then I used the Administrator account to change the user directory's name in C:\Users, and also edit the register HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\<User SID>\. Then, I change the Environment Variable about OneDrive. But, "Type here to search" still does not work. My "Windows Search" Service is running. And "Type here to search" also works find if I use another account. So, what else can I do to use "Type here to search" in this account changed user name besides reinstalling OS?

Changing sign-in account name - Windows 10

Thank you for posting your concern. There are several steps to change user account name in Windows 10. You can use commands through Run dialog box, and also using Control Panel. Please follow the steps below to help you resolve this:

Method 1: Use run command

• Press Windows key + R to open Run dialog box.
  
• On Run, type in netplwiz and click Ok.
• On User Accounts window, click on the account you want to change. In your case it is
  USER.
• Click on Properties, it will open another window. Under
  General tab, change your User name and hit Apply then
  Ok.
• Restart the computer to take effect.

Method 2: Use Control Panel

• Right click on Search bar, click on Control Panel.
  
• On Control Panel, click on User Accounts >
  Change account type >Click on your account.
• Choose Change account name. Type in the new name and click on
  Change Name to complete.

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region


I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.
