  1. Typo'd duplicate account nightmare

I set up my new Windows 10 PC yesterday with a new Microsoft account forgetting that I already had one. I used the same details but the clash was not picked up as I also typo'd the username so that it wasn't quite identical to my existing account. Now I cannot verify my new account as the email address doesn't exist (because of the typo) and I can't change to my actual old account as the system thinks that I am trying to set up a new one in the name of an existing account.

I have requested deletion of the duplicate but that will take three months. I am also unsure what this will mean for my machine that is now in the name of this new dodgy account.

I can't believe that a simple typo has created so much difficulty.

What would you suggest that I do?

    Many Thanks.

    :)

    Remove account

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:
    1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
    2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:
      Code:
      net user test /del

  3. Can't verrify account because of Typo

    NeverBuyingAWindowsPhoneAgain........

Can't verrify verify ccount because of
    MY Typo

"Hi. I accidentally put in a wrong email adress (typo) as the microsoft account."

Everything you have said is really only PARTIALLY explained.

Rather than expend keystrokes getting to the truth here is ONE possible solution,

( as you know your FULL situation , you should see a shorter SOLUTION

CREATE A GMAIL A/C ( CORRECT email adress, remember NO typos allowed)

as you will see sync that GMAIL a/c to your phone this adds your contact to Gmail ie backs it

IDK what if any Outlook a/c you currently have or have

Outlook UPPER LEFT OF just left of OUTLOOK.COM 9 dots in a square

    select PEOPLE

"Add people to your contact list" and follow the instruction

short answer Google and then import

the answers you have been provided with earlier are for specific situations (and one step)

    OK

    Duplicate D:\ drive

Okay, so as I was typing my last message, I was going back to and forth and I seem to have fixed my problem. I think this is what NovHak was trying to suggest at the bottom of his post.

What I did was click on the File Properties for the D:\ (with the Videos icon), not the one that is my DATA (D: ) which is the proper one, clicked on restore default location, said NO to the merge, then another window came up (which I think I might have said Yes to originally, which could be the original source of my problem - I know, this problem is a result of user error*cry) and I said Yes (after fully reading it and understanding it this time. The second message is as follows (please ignore the name and the fact that it's to OneDrive, I stole the picture from Access Denied - moving Pictures folder to default or other locations - Windows 10 Forums but the rest of the wording is what I saw).

This seemed to disconnect (or what ever the heck was happening) the two listed D: drives. DATA (D: ) is normal. I still had D:\ with the videos icon kicking around. I made attempts to include this in the C:\User\...\Videos folder and then ended up with sub folders. Not EXACTLY sure where in the process of what I did fixed it, but at one point I closed the File Explorer window and when I reopened it everything was back to normal.

Normal DATA (D: ), Normal Videos folder in the proper location and no subfolder, and no random D:\ drive with the Videos icon. Did a full shut down and restart and everything is looking as it should!

No formatting of the D: drive either, so that's a bonus!

Thank you so much Winuser, NovHak, and dalchina (in order of appearance in the thread *Wink) for all of your help and suggestions. I really appreciated it! You guys and/or girls rock!
