Windows 10: Unable To Access Device Manager Due To Administrator Privileges.

It seems the last couple of Windows 10 updates have been horrible for my PC. Among the problems that have arisen is I can't open Device Manager because I no longer have Admin. Priv. even though it lists that I do under User Accounts.

I would recommend you to see if you are logged in administrator account, if not then enable it. Please follow the below steps to enable:

Step 1: I would suggest you to enable the built-in administrator account.

You need to run the command from an elevated command prompt. To do that follow the below steps:

  Press the Windows key + R from the keyboard to open the
  Run Command Dialog Box.

  Type cmd and right-click on the
  Command Prompt result that should appear.

  This opens a list of options at the bottom. Select
  Run as administrator.

Windows 10 Access Denied - unable to gain administrator privileges


It is my son's computer. He is the administrator so he can log in. However the programs do not run and there is no access to any folders. When using command prompt it gives a system 5 error. It does not seem to recognize him as the administrator anymore even though in settings he is listed as the administrator. Step 1: I suggest you to log out from the current user account, restart the computer and log-in with the administrator account and check if you are able to access the local drivers.
