Windows 10: Unable to activate Windows 10

I just received a Gateway Laptop Model GWTN141-1BL as a gift for Christmas. When I tried to activate Windows 10 and deactivate S-Mode, which was activated by default, an error code showed in the activation tab of settings. The error code was 0xC004F211. I have never messed with or exchanged the hardware, nor has the person who gifted it to me the box it came in was unopened and untampered with. After searching for any possible solution, I was instructed to put in a generic product key to try and take the system out of S-Mode so I could attempt to find the original product key by opening the command application. Of course, it didn't work, but now a new error code, 0xC004C003 shows up. It still shows results of the first error when I troubleshoot, and I've even tried the "Get Help" option in settings. Is there anything I can do at this point besides return the laptop or buy a new product key for Windows 10?

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?

If you upgraded to Windows 10 for free and ended up in a non-activated state, try following these steps:

• Go to Start

• Select Go to Store, and check to see if a valid license is available for your device. If a license isn't available, you'll need to buy Windows from the Store.
