Windows 10: Unable to change lock screen picture

For months I haven't been able to set a lock screen picture. If I do it straight from photos, it says "try a different photo" with no information underneath. If I try to change it from settings, it just loads forever. (If I chose one of the photos underneath "Choose your picture" it'll change but nothing from "Browse".) All the fixes I found online haven't worked. Looking at the questions asked when other people have posted this same question here I can already answer:


1. I don't remember making any changes to the computer before this happened but it was months ago so I'm not sure

2. It's not specific to a particular picture because I've tried pictures that have worked before, as well as pictures of all sizes

3. I'm logged in as administrator


Choosing a picture from Photos didn't work as I described. System File Checker didn't find anything. However, when I made a new user account and tried it on that, it worked. What can I do to be able to change the lock screen on my account?

Lock Screen keeps changing

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Windows Spotlight picks the photos from Bing and displays them in the lock screen. I understand that you have set a picture and it is getting changed automatically.

I suggest you to follow the steps to select the Picture that you want to be displayed on the lock screen. Please follow the steps mentioned below to set a Picture to lock screen:

1. Press and hold Windows + I key on the keyboard to open settings.
   
2. Click on Personalization.
   
3. Click on Lock screen.
   
4. Click on the drop down under Background and select
   Picture.
   
5. Click on Browse and select the picture that you want to set.

Windows 10 - Unable to change account picture and lock screen


Hi, I just realized after recent major update on windows 10 I'm facing some issues.
1. Unable to change account picture



2. Stuck on changing lock screen




I already do some troubleshooting:
1. sfc /scannow
2. DISM
- DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
- DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
- DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
3. manually change the source of image in
- C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\User Account Pictures
- C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\SystemData
but, none of them is working..

Please help me to find a solution instead of re-install the whole windows (which is exhausting). Thank you.

 

Lock screen picture doesn't change anymore

My lock screen picture does not change anymore. Many others have this problem as well (Google search). A variety of fixes are suggested but most seem to involve messing with folder contents and even changing Registry entries. I am not comfortable with that.

Online, the simplest suggested fix I have found is:

1. In Personalization->Lock Screen settings change Background to Picture.
2. Delete everything from folder
   
   C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_<somecharacters>\Settings
3. In Personalization->Lock Screen settings change Background back to Windows Spotlight

First, if this is a consistent problem for so many, is Microsoft working on a fix?

Second, is the above solution safe to try?

I'd prefer it if someone from Microsoft Tech Support would weigh in on this.
