Windows 10: Unable to come out of Sleep mode

Discus and support Unable to come out of Sleep mode in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; Having the same sleep mode issue. Only way I've found to get it out of the sleep mode is to close/open the 15.6 display. HP 8.1 Discussion in 'Windows 10 Support' started by Carbo, Aug 1, 2015.

    Having the same sleep mode issue. Only way I've found to get it out of the sleep mode is to close/open the 15.6 display.

    Unable to come out of Sleep mode

    I have an HP 15, I updated my Intel graphics driver and did a PC reset(which I think means I can't revert back to 8 now) and still won't come out of sleep without manual restart.

    I have searched official microsoft's forums and other manufacturers communities.It seems a lot of people have this issue... I read a post of somebody suggesting to uninstall the Intel HD Graphics driver and reinstalling it...

    Unable to come out of Sleep mode

    I'm having the same issue with my l502x. I tried a clean install of 10 and it still didn't work. Guess I'm sticking with 7 until this gets patched.

    Also noticed that the latest Waves Maxx driver is forced onto the system. Tried using the original Dell one for Win 7 (to maintain subwoofer control) with no dice.

    So,after hours and hours of reseaching and reading other users problems, It seems in our case (those with XPS l502x models), the problem is related to the Intel HD Graphics 3000/2000 drivers... Intel hasnt updated these drivers yet to be stable with Win10 so I have read.*Mad

    Has anyone tried installing the Win 7/8 driver in compatibility mode?

    To install in compatibility mode do the following:

    Right click the installer>properties>compatibility>choose OS

    And the driver:

    I'd give it a shot but I wiped my Win 10 install already. I also read that it if the installer won't take to uninstall the nVidia driver before attempting the Intel install. Who knows... it's worth a shot, right?

    It works!
    Just tried it out with a fresh install and I'm able to bring it out of sleep mode! I went ahead and disabled auto driver updates from Windows Update until a revised driver comes out.

    Unable to come out of Sleep mode

    Trying to get the right compatibility, I did what you wrote on your post

    Right click the installer>properties>compatibility>choose OS

    Set it to WIndows 7, saved. Uninstalled the current driver and then re-installed it from the downloaded installer.

    To make everything work you need to disable auto driver updates from Windows Update or they will just keep auto-updating to the non-working drivers.

    Control Panel>System>Advanced system settings>Hardware>Device Installation Settings

    Then select:
    "No, let me choose what to do"
    "Never install driver software from Windows Update"
    "Automatically get the device app and info provided by your device manufacturer" checked.

    Then go to Programs and Features and uninstall the accelerometer, audio, video, and quickset drivers.

    Finally, open each new driver you downloaded and extract them but then cancel them as soon as the install wizard automatically starts. Navigate to the extracted drivers (they default to C:\dell\drivers) and right click on each driver installer and set them to run in compatibility mode for Windows 8 (right click on the setup and go to Properties>Compatibility).

    After setting the compatibility setting you can now install the drivers by right clicking on the setup files and selecting Run as administrator.

    Reboot as necessary and enjoy a working L502x on Windows 10. I haven't found anything that's not working yet... MaxxAudio3 even works as it should!

    I made a thread on this for my HP Envy laptop with an Nvidia GTX 850M. Won't sleep, restart or shutdown correctly. Just writes to the hard drive, then shuts off screen while the power light remains on. I just wait for the hard drive to stop then I power down holding the power button down.

    Removing the Nvidia driver fixes it (a guy tried it) but it left his Nvidia GPU useless and only his Intel GPU working. Windows 10 forced a reinstall of the Nvidia driver on his next boot up and he's back to no sleep mode. It seems to be an Nvidia issue.... at least the current new driver.*Mad
