Unable to connect to Ethernet and activate driver

I am unable to connect to my ethernet despite the cabel being plugged in. The adapter shows in device manager yet in the Network Connections window nothing is there. I have tried network reset, command prompts and other items yet nothing seems to bring back my adapter so I can connect to internet. It worked fine just a bit ago now this, I'll take any solutions at this point please... the adapter with my ethernet is the intelR ethernet that I'm trying to somehow activate again..

    :)

  2. Upgraded to 10, now ethernet will not connect

Activation and internet access are unrelated. You need to access the internet to be activated, obviously, but you don't need activation to access the internet. At no time has Microsoft said that it will not allow you to access the internet if you don't activate
    Windows 10.

(If you don't activate, Microsoft may send a team of ninjas to kidnap you, but you can access the internet.)

I still suggest that you try my acid test: Connect an Ethernet cable from your computer to your modem. If you are able to connect to the internet with this setup, then you know that your problem is not caused by your
    ISP.

Full disclosure: It is true that your (Realtek, apparently,) Ethernet adapter needs a driver to work properly. However, basic Ethernet connectivity is so well-established that even a very old, very basic driver - like
the driver that comes with Windows - will provide perfectly good Ethernet service. That's why the acid test doesn't depend on your Ethernet adapter's driver.

If you get internet service by directly connecting to your modem, the next step is to test your router.

  3. Unable to connect to internet using the ethernet.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are unable to connect to the internet. We will assist you to resolve the issue.

I appreciate if you could answer few questions to narrow down to the issue.

    • What is the make and model of the computer?

    • What exactly happens when you try to connect the Ethernet cable?

    • Did you receive any error message?

    • Did you see a red cross on the Internet connection near the Action center?

    • Did you install any third party security application?

    • What are the troubleshooting steps that you had already performed?
As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to run network adapter troubleshooter and check if it helps.

    1. Type Troubleshooting on the search bar and click Troubleshooting under Settings.

    2. Now type Network adapter in the search option.

    3. Click on Network adapter to run the troubleshooter.

If the issue persists, try uninstall and reinstall network driver.

    1. Press “Windows key + X” and click on “Device
    Manager”.

    2. In the list of devices, you should see the
    Network
    adapter. (Expand if required).

    3. Right click on the device and then select "Uninstall".

    4. In the uninstall dialog, make sure you select the option to delete the driver package from the system. This causes the driver package installed earlier to be deleted.

    5. In the Action menu of Device manager, select “Scan for Hardware changes” option. This will cause the device driver to be reinstalled. Once the driver is installed, close all windows and restart the computer.

You can also refer the steps given in the section "Why can't I get online?" of the link below.

Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

    Thank you.

Unable to connect to Ethernet and activate driver

IP configuration not valid - interference from ethernet adapter?

Solution 1: No Internet Access In Windows 8.1or Windows 10

    Step 1:

Go to Device Manager → Network adapters.
    Step 2:

    Expand it (Network adapters).

    Step 3:

    Select your network adapter

    Step 4:

Right click on your wireless network adapter or Ethernet adapter and then tap “Update Driver Software”.
(in this case your network adopter is Ethernet adopter so tap your Ethernet adapter)
    Step 5:

Now on a new window you will need to click on “Browse my computer for driver software”.

    Step 8:

After the completion of the process just restart your PC and check if the problem is solved or not. If not, goto solution 2.

Solution 2: No Internet Access In Windows 8.1,windows10

    Step 1:

    Open command prompt.
    Step 2:

Just go on hitting the enter after typing the each command.
netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled
    Step 3:

Now to check if the settings are disabled type:
    netsh int tcp show global
    then hit enter.
    Step 4:

Now the thing left is just rebooting your system and just check if the problem is solved or not and just give feedback.*chuckle*Thumbs
