Unable to hibernate my W10 PC

Since the update KB5016616 has been installed on my W10 PC I can no longer 'hibernate' it and it seems that the section in Control Panel where one could set this up has changed. Why is this? I don't like the Sleep option as I need to keep the mains power on.

    :)

  2. Is it ok to Hibernate on W10

Just for clarity, what are the specific steps that you took in adding the hibernate option to the Start menu? We will give you the most advisable way in adding back the hibernate option to the Start menu. Kindly do the following steps using an administrator
    account:

    • Type control panel on the search bar.
    • Click on Control Panel.
    • Click on System and Security.
    • Click on Power Options.
    • On the left panel, click on Choose what the power buttons do.
    • Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
    • Put a check on Hibernate.
    • Click on Save changes, then close the window.

If the steps that you took are different from what we have given, we highly recommend that you do the given steps instead.

Let us know if you need further assistance with your concern.

    PC Hibernating loop

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I tried the available steps but it did not work. Also I feel that I did not fully explain the problem. My pc arbitrarily hibernates on its own after a few minutes of being on. After which consequent attempts to get it back on and running
results in it hibernating in shorter time. So I cannot use the computer for over an hour.

I tried those steps, somehow deactivated hibernate but now the pc just shuts down. Just like the hibernation.

The only way to break the loop is to disconnect the power supply for an hour plus. Then power on the computer.

I already reinstalled W10 in a bid to fix this but it did not work.

    Unable to hibernate

I was unable to shutdown or hibernate after the latest build. The computer would keep presenting the login screen. Upon suggestions I disabled "fast startup". This fixed the shutdown problem as my computer now successfully shuts down but when I try to hibernate
one of two things happened. I am presented the login screen. Or sometimes the computer would shut down altogether.

I am running build 1709. I am also part of Windows Insider Program and am running build 17063.

I have tried most of the solutions mentioned on the forum including:

    • "sfc /scannow"
    • Disabling settings in inter power management device driver
    • Tweaking settings in advanced power options
    • Troubleshooting power options
    • Disable "Fast Startup"
