Windows 10: Unable to install printer driver

Unable to install legacy printer - Brother MFC-9700 onto Windows 10 64 bit.


The Brother site says that "The built-in driver is already included with Windows® Operating System or is available through Windows® update." It does not.


Going through device manager and trying to find a driver directly does not work.


Updating driving and choosing manufacturer shows an empty list no manufacturer listed except for Microsoft.


Have also tried to stop windows update service, delete softwaredistribution folder, re-enable update services and try updating again to no avail.


Install disc I have is not compatible.


Have searched online for answers, but it seems many people are experiencing same problem.
