Windows 10: Unable to install Realtek High definition audio codec

Hello,

I have recently bought a new Asus ROG laptop and I am unable to install the proper Realtek High Definition Audio Codec. I have tried this through various methods, but every time I try, the installer will keep on restarting over and over again after it says its done and needs to reboot, and when the computer turns back on it does the same exact install over and over again and it never finishes. However, if I search for the driver in Device manager, even in the hidden items, it will not show. Also, even though I get sound through speakers and headphones, I have no Realtek Sound Control Panel, only the default Windows 10 one... Help please!

I suggest you to update the driver and check if the issue persist.

Follow the steps to Update the driver and check if it helps.

• Press Windows key + X key and click
  Device Manager.
• Select IDT High Definition Audio CODEC on Device Manager.
• Select the Driver tab.
• Click on Update Driver.
• Select the option “browse my computer for driver software”.
• Select the option “let me pick up a list of device drivers on my computer”.
• Select the High Definition Audio Device instead of IDT High Definition" And click next.

IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Not Working

Taking those steps changed the devices in the playback (now they're "2- High Definition Audio Device" instead of "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC". But unfortunately, I still cannot
hear anything, though it did fix my problem where my microphone would say "Currently unavailable".
