Windows 10: Unable to install State of Decay 2 after replacing harddrive

I have recently replaced an old 600GB hdd (D as well as an even older 300GB hdd (G with a new 4TB hdd (D.

I have managed to move everything of importance from the two older drives.


Except State of Decay 2. It was installed to the old D: and I did not think of uninstalling it before switching disks.

After switching disks I uninstalled SoD2 from the system and tried re-installing it. But nothing works.


I am unable to install to my C: drive as this is a SSD with fairly limited free space, so the only option is D:

Cant install state of decay 2

I had problems with settings not changing and after few failed attempts to fix it i just deleted the game and was hoping reinstalling the game will fix it but after i press reinstall i just see: State of Decay 2 Couldn't install. We'll retry shortly...

Already reinstalled MStore few times, try to relog few times and deleted any still remaining content of the game i could find and still when i start MStore i see 1 update pending (State of decay 2) and its just stops right after i press update with same: State
of Decay 2 Couldn't install. We'll retry shortly...

State of Decay 2 game install gets stuck at 70% "installing" or "Downloading".

I can understand the situation must be difficult for you when the system doesn't work as it should.

Please answer these questions to get more clarity on this issue.

1. Are you aware of any changes made to the PC prior to this issue?
   
2. Is the issue specific to State of Decay 2?
   
3. Which security software is installed on the PC?
   
4. Does the issue occur in a different user account?
   
5. What is the free space available on the PC?
   

However, let us try these methods one by one to check if that helps.

Method A: The antivirus program or security software might be interfering with the Store, try disabling it 'temporarily' to see if that helps.

Note: Enable security software after the troubleshooting so that the PC is safe and secure.

You may also want to download this game directly from the browser to check if that helps.

Method B: Suggest you to refer to the steps provided by ‘Andre Da Costa’ from

State of Decay 2 no download

Open the Microsoft Store

Click the ellipsis in the top right corner of the screen (...)

Click My Library

Scroll through the list then click the State of Decay 2 app if its listed there, then click the download button.

If doesn't help, let us know and we can explore more options.
