Windows 10: Unable to install - undoing changes

Since the first Cumulative preview for 20H2 installed OK earlier in the year, all further previews have failed. That includes the full 20H2 and the 19042.630 a week ago.


I have not been able to find any explanation for that anywhere and all suggestions as to how to fix Update to get it to install have failed.

I have found a percentage of users reporting the same thing on other forums as well as here.


Short of reinstalling everything, which may not work anyway, is there anything that MS are doing to fix the problem, or even acknowledge that there is a problem?

unable to complete install.. undoing changes

Download and install appears to work, then it says "reboot required" so I reboot, then on the blue screen it says "installing updates 1%" and counts up to 6% but stops there, then restarts, then gives me the message "unable to complete install.. undoing changes" and boots to desktop. If I run windows update again the whole cycle starts again with the same result.

Winver is currently 10.0.18362.116

Any advice is appreciated... my system has a bunch of tweaks so its possible I've done something to cause this problem but have no idea what.

 

Unable to install any OS

Hi guys, I'm unable to install any OS. I tried ubuntu and got input/output error, tried installing window 7 error 0x80000010.

Downloaded iso's of both again and again still same result. Got a new SSD still the same, tried a different usb still the same.

I'm fed up, have been trying since the past 1 month still am unable to install.
I've listed my specs in my profile.

PS Have even tried/changed my ram.
Where the pug is the problem ?

I have been using live usb to work on computer for now but I need a permanent OS.

 

Unable to undo a system restore

You couldn't undo both anyway.

• A data backup is highly necessary before undoing a System Restore.
• A System Restore cannot be canceled if you did it in Safe Mode.
