Windows 10: Unable to install Windows 10 Enterprise x64 through the WDS server.. (Windows Server 2012 R2)

I have a LAB for practice on virtualization (Hyper-V) and i have configured a WDS server on Windows Server 2012 R2 and added some images, all other images are working fine instead of Windows 10 Enterprise x64, all the steps are completing but at the last moment i am getting bellow error...


I have added this image to WDS server from Windows 10 Enterprise x64 DVD that is working fine in manual installation with DVD drive..

Convert Windows Server 2012 R2 Evaluation to Windows Server 2012 R2

I have purchased the product key of Windows Server 2012 R2. Now the server is on Windows Server 2012 R2 Evaluation. I found a few links there they explained on how to convert from Windows Server 2012 R2 Evaluation to Windows Server 2012 R2 with valid product
key. One of the example is this link:

Is this a correct way to do? If I follow this step, will my data be erased?

I want to avoid formatting/fresh Windows install because there are some software in the server that we do not know how to backup. We just want to get it activated now, backup will be sorted out later.

 

Is it possible to upgrade Windows 10 to Server 2012 R2?


I can guess the answer, no, but you never know. Is it possible to upgrade Windows 10 Pro 64-bit to Windows Server 2012 R2? What happens if you run the setup from Windows 10 Pro? You will be given the choice to upgrade, or be prompted to restart and do a clean installation? As far as I know, Windows Server 2012 R2 is the server counterpart of Windows 10. They even share most of the drivers. Assuming you have a computer running Windows 10 Pro and want to convert that to a small server, running say Windows Server 2012 R2 Foundation Edition. Is that possible, or you have to format and clean install? Hopefully the drivers will be the same as in Windows 10.

Alternatively, is there any upgrade/addon to add server aspects in Windows 10 Pro (eg mail server, file server or HTTP server)? Is there an equivalent of Windows Home Server for Windows 10?

• 2018-07 Security Only Quality Update for Windows Server 2012 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB4338824)
• 2018-07 Security Only Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.7, 4.7.1, 4.7.2 for Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2 for x64 (KB4340006)
• Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB4339093)
• Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 for Windows Server 2012 R2 for x64 (KB4054566)
• Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 - July 2018 (KB890830)

These all install at the same time (including 4340558), then restart, then 4340558 is re-offered but fails to install with error 80092004.

Note that 4054566 (.Net 4.7.2) is installing as part of the initial group - presumably that is why 4340558 needs to run again?
